Good morning, 
 
Beginning Oct 1st, 2024 – Mexican truck drivers MUST have and present the digital driver’s license (from the app on their phone), a hard copy of the “constancia” (only valid for 30 days), or their standard (plastic) driver’s license upon arrival at the border.  

Some drivers are presenting ineligible documents such as a printed copy of the digital license, a screenshot on their phone, laminated versions of the digital license w/ a QR code, and outdated constancias and licenses. FMCSA has been working with carriers since the inception of the digital license (which began in April 2021), and has been elevating tolerances to this point. These other forms will no longer be accepted, and carriers will be placed out of service without the appropriate aforementioned license information. 

Additional information regarding this policy is attached, in both English & Spanish. Please be sure to advise and share with carriers and carrier partners responsible for US-MX shipments to ensure a smooth transition into the enforcement period beginning next month.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact your local DOT (Department of Transportation) or FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) officers for additional clarification.
