Outreach Event on the Seafood Import Monitoring Program

NOAA Fisheries will host a virtual outreach event on November 16, 2026, at 4:00 pm ET. Alexa Cole, Director of the Office of International Affairs, Trade, and Commerce (IATC), and the program team will facilitate a session on the Seafood Import Monitoring Program to solicit feedback from industry stakeholders to identify and mitigate operational and administrative burdens.

About the Event
NOAA Fisheries announced its plans for Seafood Import Monitoring Program reform as part of its prioritized agency actions in support of the Executive Order on Restoring American Seafood Competitiveness.  As part of the reform, the agency will evaluate the program to improve its risk-based screening and technological modernization, ensure operational use cases for the data required, and upgrade the International Fisheries Trade Permits system to prioritize user experience and minimize industry downtime. We invite industry stakeholders to join this outreach event and share their input on the program.
